North Texas Irish Youth Band

Our Irish Youth Band is an ensemble program for young people to learn to play traditional Irish music. The ensembles are grouped according to the age and skill level of the students. The Irish Youth Bands have 2 public concerts each year, plus several volunteer performances for local festivals and events around the Metroplex. The bands are directed by Clare Cason, a local violin and fiddle teacher, who performs with several symphonies in the area as well as leading local Irish groups. The curriculum in our North Texas Irish Youth Band includes:

  • ensemble groups based on skill and age that learn traditional Irish dance music
  • public performances in lively settings
  • instruction on playing music in a group without a conductor
  • a chance to learn the history and traditions of Irish music, the stories of some of its greatest players, and an opportunity to meet some of them as well
  • fun making music with friends
